SUMMARY:Observe a Teaching Award Winner with Squirrel Eiserloh
DESCRIPTION:You're invited to observe Squirrel (Brian) Eiserloh\, a 2020
Provost’s Teaching Recognition Award Winner\, for a session of his Math
and Physics for Games I course. This course provides a foundation in the
mathematical concepts and techniques used in real-time 2D and 3D game
programming\, including applications in game physics\, rendering\, and
gameplay. Covers position and displacement vectors\, affine matrix
transformations\, numerical integration\, geometric primitives and
queries\, collision detection and response\, interpolation and easing\, and
local and world spaces. \n\nThere are 0-15 students in this graduate-level
class. In this session\, students will be computing a highly optimized ray
intersection with a 2D disc\, useful for countless cool and fun
applications in video game development. We start by showing a complete
working interactive demo (final goal/destination)\, then back up to
"invent" the algorithm ourselves from scratch on the whiteboard\, exploring
and discussing all special cases\, modifying our demo in real time to
demonstrate what bugs/symptoms each would produce if not properly
addressed.\n\nIf you choose to attend this session\, the instructor will
introduce you to the class and explain why you are there.\n\nAfter
registering for this observation\, you will receive an Outlook calendar
 invite with the class location.
