DESCRIPTION:Please join the Dedman College Interdisciplinary Institute for 
 the April event of the DCII's Big Challenge Series on Strengthening 
 Democracy.\n\nIn a "lightning round" format\, six SMU professors from 
 varied academic disciplines will share examples of democratic crises from 
 different countries and historical periods\, and discuss the lessons we can 
 take away about how to overcome threats to democracy. The panel features 
 Political Science Professors Hiroki Takeuchi and Avshalom Schwartz\, World 
 Languages and Literatures Professors Elizabeth Russ and Leonard Evans\, 
 History Professor Ariel Ron\, and Philosophy Professor Alida Liberman.
