Side-Quest Teaching: Using RPG Mechanics to Increase Student Engagement In-Person / Online
This session explores how the quest structure of role-playing games can inform assignment and activity design. Through narrative framing, individual and collaborative roles, choice and chance, and optional side quests, participants will consider practical ways to scaffold participation, curiosity, and peer learning through quest-based assignment design.
This session will be led by Dana Buzzee,M.F.A., a Fall 2026 CTE Faculty Affiliate.
