Observe a Teaching Award Winner - Dr. Kristina Nielsen In-Person

You’re invited to observe Kristina Nielsen, recipient of the Golden Mustang Award, for a session of MUHI 1302 Music in World Societies.

This course introduces students to musical traditions from a wide range of cultures and explores key themes in contemporary musical research. Students examine case studies of music from diverse geographic regions and consider broader issues such as indigeneity, nationalism, diaspora, tradition, and globalization.

This is an Undergraduate Level class with approximately 50 students.

The session will explore UNESCO’s concept of Intangible Cultural Heritage through a case study of Mongolian throat singing. The class will primarily feature lecture, along with a fact-finding activity using the UNESCO website.

The instructor will introduce you and provide context for the session.

Please note that you will receive an Outlook calendar invite with the class location after registering. Due to the limited number of sessions available, faculty will only be allowed to register for two Teaching Award Winner Observations per term.
