Observe a Teaching Award Winner - Dr. Peng Tao In-Person
You’re invited to observe Peng Tao, recipient of the President's Associates Award, for a session of CHEM 4382 – Physical Chemistry of Proteins.
Proteins are the molecular workhorses of life, carrying out a vast range of biological functions that sustain cellular processes. This course explores the relationship between protein structure, dynamics, and function through the lens of physical chemistry. Students examine structural hierarchy from primary to quaternary structure, protein–protein interactions, thermodynamics, enzyme kinetics, dynamics, and specialized classes such as membrane proteins. The course also introduces experimental techniques, computational modeling, protein folding prediction, and structural engineering, with attention to evolutionary mechanisms and applications in biotechnology.
This is an Undergraduate Level class with up to 15 students.
This session will continue the regular exploration of the physical chemistry of proteins. Because of the small, upper-level format, the class is highly interactive and discussion-driven. The visiting faculty observer is warmly invited to contribute insights during conversation or may choose to observe quietly.
The instructor will introduce you and provide context for the session. Please plan to briefly introduce yourself at the beginning of class.
Please note that you will receive an Outlook calendar invite with the class location after registering. Due to the limited number of sessions available, faculty will only be allowed to register for two Teaching Award Winner Observations per term.
