DCII Big Challenge Series: Daniel Ziblatt

DCII Big Challenge Series: Daniel Ziblatt In-Person

Please join the DCII for the December event in our Big Challenge Series on Strengthening Democracy: A lecture from Dr. Daniel Ziblatt (Harvard University), co-author of the New York Times bestsellers How Democracies Die and Tyranny of the Minority. For more information on Dr. Ziblatt, please visit https://www.prhspeakers.com/speaker/steven-levitsky-daniel-ziblatt.

In this thought-provoking lecture, Daniel Ziblatt will delve into the history of where democracy has failed in Latin America and Europe, and explain his four-part test for identifying authoritarian leaders. Drawing on decades of research, he explains the two crucial traditions, mutual tolerance and forbearance, that have allowed American democracy to surive for so long—and the greatest threats to its future. Ziblatt leaves audiences with concrete actions they can take to bolster democracy everywhere, such as building alliances that extend beyond traditional party lines, defending institutions, and mobilizing the vote.
