Observe an Award-Winning Teacher: Katherine Carté In-Person
We invite one SMU faculty member to observe an undergraduate HIST 1325 class session taught by award-winning teacher, Dr. Katherine Carté.
This session will focus on data visualizations and maps—topics with their own history— and show how these are essential tools for communicating history. Using ArcGIS Online, students will do primary-source history research in an important topic: the history of Americans fleeing enslavement, and being sought by former enslavers. They will then make data visualizations of their findings, building and demonstrating competency in essential digital tools. On this course day, we will be discussing freedom-seeker ads in newspapers.
Classroom location information will be provided via email after registration.
