Dancing with Disagreement: A three-step process to engage constructively with disagreements in higher education In-Person / Online
Occasionally, disagreements in the classroom can make faculty and students more uncomfortable than is meaningful to learning. In this session, SMU Center for Teaching Excellence's Spring 2024 Faculty Affiliate - Dr. John Potter, will discuss a three-step model allowing a faculty member to hold the dialogue space while framing it constructively and safely. The model begins with receptiveness, then the three steps: asking questions, making statements, and predicting consequences. https://mediate.com/dancing-with-disagreement/
