Dancing with Disagreement: A three-step process to engage constructively with disagreements in higher education

Dancing with Disagreement: A three-step process to engage constructively with disagreements in higher education

Occasionally, disagreements in the classroom can make faculty and students more uncomfortable than is meaningful to learning. In this session, SMU Center for Teaching Excellence's Spring 2024 Faculty Affiliate - Dr. John Potter, will discuss a three-step model allowing a faculty member to hold the dialogue space while framing it constructively and safely. The model begins with receptiveness, then the three steps: asking questions, making statements, and predicting consequences.  https://mediate.com/dancing-with-disagreement/
