Supporting Linguistically Diverse Students

Supporting Linguistically Diverse Students

Universities in the U.S. attract many international students with different levels of experience using English in academic contexts. Receiving appropriate support in courses influences their opportunities for success. In this course, participants will learn about the theory and practice of supporting linguistically diverse students to simultaneously learn language and content in higher education courses. Participants will learn strategies to help students understand the content and effectively participate in the oral and written activities of the classroom. These strategies will enhance students' English proficiency, academic achievement, confidence, and well-being in the classroom.

This session will be led by Fall 2023 CTE Affiliate Dr. Karla del Rosal. Cookies and coffee will be served.
