SMUSA Lunch and Learn: The Winter Blue and Seasonal Affective Disorder In-Person

The Winter Blues. The Post-Holiday Letdown. Seasonal mood changes have a lot of names and affect millions of people every year. This can range from feeling a bit more blah to a full-blown depressive episode. This Lunch & Learn will offer some clarification on what seasonal mood changes can look like, why they happen, what steps can be taken to manage them, and when to seek medical assistance.

Chris received his Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002 and has been actively practicing in the mental health field for the 20 years since. Originally from Southern Illinois, he has worked primarily with adults in community mental health, intensive outpatient, and military healthcare settings in the past. In 2009, he joined Group Health Cooperative, now Kaiser Permanente, in Tacoma, WA where he has worked as an individual and group therapist, as well as a clinical lead for the past 13 years. Chris has a generalist mental health practice, but has extensive experience helping folks dealing with depression, Bipolar Disorder, and anxiety disorders.
