Binational Migration, Asylum, and Border Policy

Binational Migration, Asylum, and Border Policy In-Person

The SMU Mission Foods Texas–Mexico Center, in partnership with El Seminario Migración, Desigualdad y Políticas Públicas (COLMEX), invite you to the research presentation: Binational Responses to the Externalization of Asylum and Entrapment: The Case of Ciudad Juárez, that will feature Dr. Isabel Gil Everaert (UNAM) presenting original research funded, commissioned, and supported by the SMU Mission Foods Texas–Mexico Center.

Date: Wednesday, February 4, 2026 | 12:00–2:00 p.m.

Location: Sala Alfonso Reyes, El Colegio de México, Carretera Picacho Ajusco 20, Col. Ampliación Fuentes del Pedregal, C.P. 14110 Tlalpan, Ciudad de México

Following the presentation, a binational panel of experts—including Dr. Jeremy Slack (UTEP), Héctor Padilla (UACJ), and Oscar Rodríguez (COLEF)—will engage with and respond to the findings. The discussion will offer cross-border perspectives on migration governance, labor dynamics, and humanitarian response, highlighting the Center’s role as a convener and producer of policy-relevant migration research.
