You are invited to the SMU-in-Japan Program Scholarship Luncheon, which will take place on Friday, October 30, 2025, 12:00 - 1:30 PM, at Carr Collins Hall Dining Room.

We hope you can attend a luncheon to celebrate the donors to the McFarland Memorial Scholarship and the Tadashi Yamagata Scholarship, and to meet the 2026 scholarship recipients. The SMU-in-Japan Summer International Studies & Honors Program at Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU) provided students with valuable perspectives on Japan’s economy, history, politics, and society while fostering meaningful cross-cultural friendships. Beyond the classroom, students explored business sites, scenic landscapes, and vibrant neighborhoods, and participated in homestays and local traditions that offered an authentic glimpse into Japanese life. We honor the donors whose generosity made these transformative experiences possible. The program left students with a broadened worldview, strengthened cultural and economic awareness, and cherished memories of their time in Japan. Please join us to hear about their experiences.
