Due to FERPA restrictions, parents cannot participate in advising appointments unless they have written permission from the student. An email sent to erinb@smu.edu will suffice for the initial advising appointment. After the initial advising appointment, students need to provide consent for access to their records by using the Release of Education Records feature from the Student Dashboard in My.SMU. For more details about FERPA, please see smu.edu/legaldisclosures/ferpa/releases.
